The Clinical Study about Characteristics of Dental Diseases of Medically Compromised Admission Patients who Complained about Oral Lesion in Wonju Christian Hospital

Abstract
|
|
|
These authors investigated the characteristics of dental diseases & oral complicaions of medically compromised admission patients who complained about oral lesions in Wonju Christian Hospital, and researched the books about relationship between systemic diseases and dental disease.
The results obtained are as follows.
1. Upon the investigations of occurrrence frequencies of systemic disease, related to dental disease, pulmonary disease was the most (24%) and renal disease (14%), tuberculosis (13%), hypertensive disease (9%) were followed.
2. Upon the investigation of the distribution of dental disease per each systemic disease, the occurrence frequency of the periodontal disease was the most (42%) among the majority of systemic disease. So it is supposed that periodontal disease is mostly related to systemic disease.
3. Oral complications owing to systemic disease were much appeared in D.M & Hematologic diseases, but those were little appeared in other systemic diseases.
4. Cooperative research is reguired for improvement of host immune response to oral infection because oral infection in systemic disease patients can cause the significant systemic reactions.
5. It is desirable that the dental care of systemic disease patient should be carried out in dental department of general hospital where clinical & laboratory tests are prepared & team approach is possible between dentist and medical doctor.
6. On education of the presention of oral diseases, the education of systemic disease prevention must be paralled with local prevention method such as tooth-brushing. And the legal problems can be decreased by informing about the fact that the prognosis of dental treatment is largely depending on the general condition of patient, especially systemic disease patients.
